The Smyrna Public Safety Foundation took 90 students from eight Smyrna-area schools holiday shopping during the annual “Shop With a Hero.”
Each participating student received $250 from the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation before arriving at the ballpark. Police officers and firefighters accompanied the children to purchase essentials and toys for themselves and their families.
Following the shopping trip, students, chaperones, and first responders went to Truist Park and gathered in the Delta Club, where the team hosted a midday program featuring holiday décor, a catered lunch, and activity stations. The lineup included photos with Santa, arts-and-crafts tables and cookie decorating. Braves mascot BLOOPER visited the event, and students received team gifts, including hats.
The celebration was part of the Atlanta Braves Foundation’s Season of Giving, presented by Truist.
Students also took home holiday meal kits assembled in advance by volunteers from the club’s front office and the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation. Each kit contained nonperishable food items and a $25 Kroger gift card.
The event meets immediate community needs while building positive connections between families and first responders in Smyrna.
