The Smyrna Optimist Club raised $2,500 at its Santa House and donated the proceeds to the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation for the annual Shop With a Hero.
This past year, the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation served 100 local elementary and middle school students, taking them shopping and ensuring they had a joyous holiday. In addition to shopping for themselves and their families, every student went home with a meal kit so they could enjoy a holiday meal.
As the need increases each year, the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation is raising money year-round for its Shop With a Hero program.
“We would not be successful in helping raise spirits during the holidays without the support of the local community and organizations like the Smyrna Optimist Club,” Smyrna Public Safety Foundation Executive Director Denise Czarnik said. “It shows that when we come together as a community, we can accomplish so much more.”
